When examining your texts, don’t forget to consider phenomena at all textual levels: global issues (genre, complete/partial translation, paragraph/section divisions); paratexts and intertexts (title, quotations, translator’s notes, diagrams); inter-sentence relations (cohesion/coherence relations); sentences; words, phrases, and clauses. Some issues to examine at the different levels: Are there differences/similarities between ST and TT? Is TT source-oriented or target-oriented? Are there shifts in style or meaning? You should concentrate on what strikes you as noticeable patterns across each ST-TT. Norm hypotheses should be based on repeated patterns across the whole corpus.
